Dr. Grace Devlin is one of the country's most-promising young surgeons, but when her brother finds himself in life-threatening danger from Chicago's Southside mob due to a gambling debt, she puts her future on the line by promising to work off the books for the organization in order to pay off the debt. When Grace isn't working at the hospital, she must juggle her mob-related demands and work to keep her second life a secret. The only one who knows the full scope of her work with the mob is a strangely compassionate killer whose relationship with Grace is more than it seems.

Dr. Grace Devlin is one of the country's most-promising young surgeons, but when her brother finds himself in life-threatening danger from Chicago's Southside mob due to a gambling debt, she puts her future on the line by promising to work off the books for the organization in order to pay off the debt. When Grace isn't working at the hospital, she must juggle her mob-related demands and work to keep her second life a secret. With House off the air, Fox has a vacancy for a new medical drama. I thought The Mob Doctor just might fit the bill there, with a concept that twists a medical drama with the suspenseful world of organized crime, following a female doctor who's attempting to pay off her brother's debt by working on the side for the mob. There was potential in the concept, but unfortunately, the pilot pushes things too far, too fast. From the first episode alone, the series could be described as a drama about a surgeon with ties to the mob, questionable ethics and really great hair.
